Beautiful MIP. It's that abstractness in your writing that I really admire, that thing of leaving it open ended...just the way the reader would want to take it. :) I interpret words words as clay, the way you perceive it makes all the difference. Yes, rear view mirrors indeed...giving a laterally inverted image, and not conveying perfectly the intended emotion. Lovely. :)
Hmm.. Thought provoking. I agree to what Devika says. Who cares for the moment .. like it is.. right now...till it is no more there? The words may gather that past moment and make it appear closer than it actually is. But can it actually remake it like it originally was?
:)
Donno if it were actually what you also thought. But I like the arbit mode of posts here. Everyone who reads it, feels like the writer him/herself... :)
Feeling at peace when I am with you, Hands entwined under the sky blue the world and words would both lose the meaning (Isn't it) If the closeness was really so true... :)

words are rear view mirrors indeed- they make a lot of things mean way more than waht they really do!
just perfectly said!
Do you mean to say, seeing and telling are the same, MIP?
oh yeah just as rear view mirrors -- telling the past...
and is any word powerful enough to convey a pure feeling?? I doubt. I would say -- NO, its only a fraction..
perhaps that why we don't see the world disappearing...
and Yes -- objects are far more closer than they appear...minds create the distance...
simple post, but deep connotations MIP....and I am not sure if I am reading what you meant :)

I understand you talk of how it all looks through rear view mirrors...
but that post spoke more to me, perhaps :)

Very very profound.
That's the beauty of words! How they can mean more than one thing. Be it sarcasm, double-entendres, whatever!
Even now... Readers aren't fully able to gauge what the writer is trying to say. That's the alluring preciousness about words.
Just came back from a drive and after reading these lines... The next I go on a drive, will keep this verse in mind. Surreal parallelism.
Peace. Have a nice day.

Beautiful thought MIP...
Yes, words sometimes convey more distortions than meaning!
MIP,
Love your four-liners.
Foresight is better than hindsight, but hindsight is what most people have.
Keep them coming.
Cheers,

hey quite true, reminded of this quote, read somewhere, long time back, " dates in the calendar are closer than they appear."
Only a man in painting can utter the juxtapose!
Indeed, we are striving towards making our life clean in the utter dense crap.. In the process we are making it more so!
They arent so simple as they are! Perhaps life should have come with a tag- "things are nearer/complex than they seem"
quite about time for a new one, MIP...
look forward to a nice poem :)

Beautifully expressed.
This line on the right side of my driving seat has intrigued me always.
But your interpretation is original and inspiring.
Rear View mirrors are still deceptive.... this could have a differnent meaning too..
